In most cases, entering students are assigned an Academic Advisor based on the student's major. If you feel the need to change Academic Advisors, you are encouraged to discuss this situation with your Academic Advisor to work out an appropriate solution. Academic Advisor assignments are made to keep each Academic Advisor's workload balanced and to ensure the consistency of program information shared with students.  By specializing in special majors, Academic Advisors can become experts in their program areas.
