Do I have to take an exam after I graduate to practice as a Surgical Technologist?

Yes, to become credentialed and practice as a surgical technologist graduates must take and pass a national certification examination administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting ( The exam is scheduled and taken as a group on the Owens Campus (usually the Tuesday after graduation). To maintain this credential registrants must submit 30 hours of continuing education to the Association of Surgical Technology ( every 24 months.
