What do I need to put in a PLA portfolio?

Statement
Provide a reason as to why you are seeking credit for the course you have selected in this petition. This statement is brief, up to five sentences in length.

Personal Essay
The personal essay is an opportunity to explain how the learning done outside of the classroom has met the learning outcomes listed for the course. The essay should be 1-5 pages in length. The essay should do the following:

Identify your life experiences and describe how that learning from those experiences relates to the course being petitioned. Try to be brief and specific. State how those life experiences meet the learning outcomes and competencies of the course.
Your narrative/essay is based on personal, life learning experiences, it is not based on research, history, or another person’s experience.

Resume
A resume needs to be included as part of the portfolio. Career Services can provide assistance with resume building and review.
