How do I make phone calls from my computer using Cisco Jabber?

Using the softphone feature, you can place, receive, and manage your phone calls through your computer and an internet connection.

To Place a Call Using the Contact List:

  1. Click the Contact icon in the Jabber hub.
  2. Hover over the contact’s name.
  3. Click the phone icon. The call is placed to the contact’s Owens extension.

To Place a Call Using the Owens Directory:

  1. Type the person’s name in the Search or call field.
  2. Hover over the contact’s name in the search results.
  3. Click the phone icon. The call is placed to the contact’s Owens extension.

To Place a Call by Typing the Phone Number:

  1. Type the phone number in the Search or call field.

    Note: If it is an outside call, be sure to enter 9 first, then the rest of the phone number.
  2. Click the phone icon next to the Search or call field. The call is placed to the number entered.

To answer a call:

When you receive an incoming call, a popup window appears in the bottom right corner of your computer screen.

  • Click Answer to accept the incoming call.
  • Click Decline to forward the call to voicemail.


To Manage your Recent Calls:

  1. Click on the Calls
  2. Click the down arrow next to the calls category.

  3. Select which calls you want to view; All, Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed.
  4. Right click on a call to view the menu to manage the call.
